We had hoped to offer our Program postponed since 2019 this summer but once again the pandemic has required us to do things differently for the summer of 2021. However, we are very excited to host two exhibits if conditions allow.
The first is an art show entitled: Celebrating The Group of Seven Centenary: Bedford and Beyond. (Part 1 and Part 2). Three years in the making, this exhibition of Group of Seven paintings (reproductions) coincides with the 250th anniversary of the construction of Scott Manor House. With the collaboration of twelve museums, galleries, and private collections from across Canada and in Britain, the Fort Sackville Foundation has assembled for display more than forty works by Group of Seven artists. Never previously exhibited as a single show, these paintings begin with a focus on Bedford, where Arthur Lismer lived and painted side by side with A.Y. Jackson, and then shift to include Halifax, Herring Cove, Cape Breton, and the South Shore.
The second will be a display by the Bedford Lions Club entitled: Celebrating 75 Years: Then and Now.
